A Lansing Childs Design Wins In Statewide I Voted Sticker Contest

A Lansing child's design wins in statewide 'I voted' sticker contest

An inclusive design

A young girl from Lansing has won a statewide contest to design the official "I Voted" sticker for the 2023 election.

Ten-year-old Nora VanRyn's design features a raised hand with an "I Voted" sticker on it, surrounded by a circle of stars.

Nora's design was chosen from over 4,000 entries from across the state.

Inspiration behind the design

Nora said she was inspired to create a design that was inclusive of all voters.

"I wanted to make sure that everyone felt represented in my design," she said.

The stars represent the different communities that make up the state,

And the raised hand represents the act of voting.

"I hope that my design encourages everyone to get out and vote,"

Nora said. "Voting is one of the most important things we can do for our country."

Praise for the design

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson praised Nora's design.

"Nora's design is a beautiful and inspiring reminder of the importance of voting," Benson said.

"I am confident that her design will encourage Michiganders of all ages to make their voices heard at the ballot box."

Nora's design will be used on all "I Voted" stickers distributed at polling places across the state during the 2023 election.
