France World Cup squad 2022: Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema lead defending champions

Didier Deschamps has named his 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar, with Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema leading the line for the defending champions.

There are no major surprises in the squad, with most of the players who helped France win the World Cup in Russia four years ago included. However, there are a few notable absentees, including Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante, who are both injured.

Mbappe, who is considered one of the best players in the world, will be the key man for France in Qatar. The 23-year-old forward scored four goals at the last World Cup and will be looking to add to his tally this time around.

Benzema, who won the Ballon d'Or last year, is another key player for France. The 34-year-old striker scored 44 goals for Real Madrid last season and will be looking to help France retain their World Cup title.

France are in Group D for the World Cup, alongside Australia, Denmark and Tunisia. They will begin their campaign against Australia on November 22.
