Remembering the Legendary Emanuel Yarbrough
A Canadian Sports Icon
June 22, 1963 - June 7, 2006
As the wrestling world mourns the loss of a true legend, we look back on the remarkable life and career of Emanuel Yarbrough, the Canadian sumōtori and professional wrestler who left an indelible mark on both sports.
Born in Windsor, Ontario, on June 22, 1963, Yarbrough was a natural athlete from a young age. His imposing size and strength drew him to sumō, where he quickly rose through the ranks. In 1990, he became the first Canadian to win the prestigious Emperor's Cup, solidifying his place as one of the greatest sumō wrestlers of his generation.
